There are a few telling signs that give a pretty clear indication of where things are headed with the trial. One of these are the headlines — even the most rabidly pro-Heard publications are having a hard time defending her as ‘the innocent saintly victim’, and now pretend to be shocked and surprised by her ex-husband’s growing support. Some papers barely cover the case at all because doing so does not serve whatever interests they have.
Two days ago, Amber Heard fired her entire PR-team. That’s a pretty huge deal. And they’re not a bad PR-team, either, they’re some of the best in the business. Even they cannot stop the fallout at this point, but as sources close to the actress reveal, she “hates negative headlines” and gets “triggered by them”. A year ago, hell even a few months ago, public support was already dwindling for Heard. But newspapers still spoke only of “mutual abuse” at best… now the tables have well and truly turned and the meltdown has been one of epic proportions. Many male commenters have shared stories of their own abuse at the hands of women — an often hidden form of domestic violence not talked about out of shame. Amber Heard’s videotaped statements to Depp, literally telling him “no one will ever believe you were a victim!” have gone viral. No PR team can spin such evil and make it look anywhere near good.
The latest Aquaman movie has been edited, it was just revealed. Amber Heard’s character now only has less than ten minutes of total screentime. This, too, is huge news. As a petition to drop the actress from the film altogether has now reached a milestone of three million(!) signatures, Heard has become a financial liability for studios and keeping her employed is no longer viable. Expect this movie to be one of her last; career-wise, after all that has transpired, she’s done for. You can’t become a living meme after taking a dump on your husband’s bed and still land roles as a seductive vixen… this woman is a PR nightmare no studio will touch with a ten-foot pole whereas Depp is quickly winning back public support to the point where new projects are already lining up for him.
One of the reasons Depp is winning? People get justifiably ‘triggered’ when they see a clear, open-and-shut case of undeniable injustice. When a movie villain does something wicked and says: “No one will ever believe you!” it’s classic bullying/abuse. Heard is an archetype of an “abusive, shitty person”. She personifies a sort of manipulative[2] evil that hides underneath an attractive and respectable facade. Having that facade broken down, her cover forever blown, the hideous monster lurking inside is revealed. Many of us, men and women alike, have had to deal with such monsters. Manipulative sociopaths who casually commit acts of evil, big and small, with a smile never leaving their faces. Shrugging off the notion that there could ever be any consequences, knowing they’d get away with it just as they always had… watching an overly confident, manipulative bully’s carefully crafted lie of professional victimhood unravel before our very eyes in real-time, is riveting.
As it currently stands, Johnny Depp is winning. Big time. His case is enormous, support staggering. It’s odd to see a celebrity defamation case garner as much attention in the media, and social media, as the Ukraine war. This goes to show that people really like to see good prevail against evil, whether it be on a small, symbolic scale or on the world stage.
