It was a very well-made film. Incredible trippy visuals. Raimi recaptured his “Evil Dead” horror roots in a fresh surprising way. Characterization was on point and the movie moved at a fun speedy pace, similar to “Ragnarok” and “Infinity War” in that sense, where there are very few momenta stealing slow scenes. There was a lot of heart, great action, and better placed, more subtle humor than some MCU films. However, this film unfairly had a ridiculous amount of hype and expectations built around it. But this was not Multiverse cross-franchise Avengers, it was a Doctor Strange movie with a few little surprises and some quite subtle easter eggs. In terms of negative, I had a handful of specific nitpicks, but my major deflation wasn’t the film's fault (maybe some of the marketing), it was false expectations.
