Email is a complex aspect of marketing. The landscape always changes – just like the people. In order for you to run successful email marketing campaigns, you will have to stay current with the email marketing best practices of the time.
Here are the top email marketing tips you should always apply to every email campaign.
- Subject Line- The 25-30 character subject line decides whether the amazing email that you spent hours creating will work or not. So make the subject line creative and conversational. Also, do check whether it is a spam subject line or not. There are many free tools on Google for this.
- Personalization- Whenever my name is mentioned in the email, I spend that extra 30 seconds to read it completely or at least till my concentration is distracted. Hence, personalization always helps!
- Customer-centric Content- Everyone is selfish nowadays. So if you want to make the body of your e-mail interesting and eye-catching, put yourselves in the shoes of the customer and create content similarly.
- 80:20 Rule- The hack that has proven to be most successful is the 80:20 rule. 80% of your content should be information and 20% can be promotional.
- Email Blasts- This hack will make your work smarter and easier. Email blasts mean sending out emails to the customers in the same database, all at ONCE.
- Correct Time- While there is no correct or standard time for e-mail, by this, I mean that you must decide the time to send e-mails as per the demographics of your customer base. For example, if your demographics say that your audience is below the age of 21, you can send them in the evening as it is assumed they will not have college at that time.
- Permission to Subscribe- In this data-driven world, make sure that you ask the permission of the customer before adding them to your mailing list.
- Website Optimization- Ensure that your website has a tab to join the mailing list so that your database increases with the traffic.
- Promotions- Keep in mind the 80:20 rule and use 20% of the promotional space wisely. Add the offers and your best-selling products.
- CTAs- Adding Call To Action is the whole Purpose of Email Marketing. So don’t forget to add an appropriate CTA to your email. Don’t show a product and add a CTA to your social media. It should be ‘Shop Now’ and not ‘Follow Us’.
